About Pierre Auguste Cot’s The Storm
Interested in decorating your wall with The Storm print?
Pierre Auguste Cot created this masterpiece in 1880.
The work depicts a young and healthy-looking couple running out of the rain covering their heads in a drape.
This work depicts the same couple as in one of Cot’s other works. The woman who commissioned The Storm was the cousin of the owner of the aforementioned work.
Many believe this scene alludes to the love of Daphnis and Chloe from ancient Greek literature.
Today this work hangs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
