Awesome portrait,

Absolutely gorgeous piece. It comes with brackets to install in the back for mounting. That allows you to get it just right on the wall. Even though the piece is not that big, it dominates the room it is in. The colors looks fantastic, and the detail in the piece looks sharp. I couldn't be more pleased.

I got the canvas version. It is well done and any pictures that depict the revolutionary war should be in all American homes. This is really meaningful and important art.

good quality, looks great in waiting room

This painting is gorgeous, and it depicts one of the great episodes in America's history. It used to bother me that the painting is historically inaccurate (the flag, the boat, the weather, the time of day, the ice chunks, the presence of weapons), but then I reconsidered, in light of the fact that other famous paintings of the era (such as the famous painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence) are also historically inaccurate. I suppose paintings such as these should be considered artful recreations that are not meant to visually capture an event accurately but, rather, to render the event's thematic drama. In this light, Leutze's painting is sheer brilliance. And it looks great in my living room.
