Frans Hals, or Frans Hals the Elder was a Dutch artist alive 1582-1666. He was active during the golden age. Frans Hals is famous for being painterly, or being a painter whose work exhibits brushstrokes. He was born in Antwerp and lived most of his life in Haarlem, The Netherlands. His anime recognition was mostly due to his portraits of wealthy citizens.
