About Cassius Coolidge’s A Bold Bluff (Dogs Playing Poker)
Looking to decorate your room with this A Bold Bluff print?
Cassius Coolidge painted this amazing work of art in 1903 in the United States.
This piece is part of a series of works ordered by the firm Brown & Bigelow as advertising visuals for a cigar campaign. Dogs Playing Poker is the name of the series.
The St. Bernard at the front left of the painting has only a pair of twos and just bet. The other dogs on the table are studying him to see if he is bluffing, which of course he is.
This is the first painting in a mini-series within a series, the second is the follow-up scene called A Waterloo.
